You may use a PowerPoint template to prepare your oral presentation, which can be downloaded here.

We have accepted more than 80 abstracts from 16 countries/region. To give all presenters and viewers of the Virtual NZBCS-2021 the best possible experience, we kindly ask all presenters to pre-record their presentations. Please read the following instructions regarding the recording of your presentation to comply with the technical specifications. You may download a copy of the instructions for your convenience.

Deadline: 15 November 2021

Please submit your e-Poster as 1-page in landscape orientation. You may use a template that can be downloaded here.

• Language: All e-Posters should be prepared in English.
• File format: .ppt .pptx .pdf
• e-Poster size in cm: 67.8 width x 38.1 height – landscape orientation
• e-Poster size in pixel: 2733 width x 1536 height – landscape orientation
• Font size: ≥16

Hyperlinks, animated images and animations are not permitted for e-Posters and will be non-functioning.

e-Poster abstracts will be available in the virtual platform at all times for the participants during the conference and in an online archive following the conference. Viewers will be able to easily find and browse e-Posters.

The virtual NZBCS-2021 (New Zealand Breast Cancer Symposium in 2021) organized by the New Zealand Association of Breast Cancer Research (NZABC^®) Incorporated will be held online on Friday 19^th November 2021.

Scientific abstracts are invited from registered attendees for both online poster presentations and a limited number of online oral presentations.

Accepted abstracts will be available online on the NZBCS-2021 website two weeks prior to publication in: Abstracts Book of the New Zealand Breast Cancer Symposium in 2021, Friday 19 November 2021, Auckland University of Technology (AUT), School of Science, Faculty of Health & Environmental Sciences, Auckland, New Zealand.

NZBCS-2022: The Third NZ Breast Cancer Symposium in 2022, Auckland, NZ

The NZBCS-2022 (New Zealand Breast Cancer Symposium in 2022) organized by the New Zealand Association of Breast Cancer Research (NZABC^®) Incorporated will be held tentatively from Thursday 17 - Saturday 19 November 2022 at the Auckland University of Technology (AUT), Auckland, New Zealand.

Scientific abstracts are invited from registered attendees for both poster presentations and a limited number of oral presentations.

Accepted abstracts will be available online on the NZBCS-2022 website two weeks prior to publication in: Abstracts Book of the Second New Zealand Breast Cancer Symposium, Thursday 17 - Saturday 19 November 2022, Auckland University of Technology (AUT), School of Science, Faculty of Health & Environmental Sciences, Auckland, New Zealand.

Instructions for Abstracts

1. General instructions

• Abstracts should be submitted in English and contain no more than 300 words excluding Title, Authors, Affiliations and (optional) additional information, and fit on a single A4 page, i.e. with a typing area: width 18 cm, height 24.7 cm; font type, Times New Roman; font size, 12; single-spaced, page layout set at justify
• Multiple abstracts are permitted from the same senior author.
• Ensure that your abstract does not contain spelling, grammar or scientific mistakes, as it will be reproduced exactly as submitted. No proof reading will be done.
• Abstract must describe substantial results indicating that the work has been, or is nearly completed. Abstracts stating that “results will be presented” will not be accepted. The work described must not have been published at the time of abstract submission.
• If there is a change in the presenting author, please inform the conference secretariat. If the original presenting author is unable to present the abstract, it is that person's responsibility to ensure that one of the co-authors takes over the role, and to advise the NZBCRW or NZBCS secretariat.
• If an abstract is accepted for presentation at the NZBCRW or NZBCS, the submitter agrees to allow NZBCRW or NZBCS to publish the abstract on the conference website and the conference abstract booklet.
• Accepted abstract presenters must register and pay their registration fees by the deadline date noted in the letter of acceptance. If payment is not received by the deadline date (or is received after the deadline date), the abstract(s) will be automatically withdrawn and will not appear in the congress program and abstract book.

2. Abstract format

Important!!! Please use the NZBCS Template and Example of Abstract to prepare your abstarcts. It can be downloaded from here .

The abstract should have four to five sections: i) the title; ii) author(s), affiliation(s) and email; iii) key words; iv) structured body of the abstract; and v) (optional) additional information. There should be a space (size 12) between each section. Abstracts should be written concisely and clearly with the following structure:

• Title: Bold, sentence case, i.e. first letter in capital, the rest in lower case letters, and no full stop at the end.
• Authors: Full names of all authors (with the name of the author who will present the paper underlined), no titles, no full stop at the end, no bold. Author names should be listed in this order: first name, middle name or initial with full stop, and last name.
• Author affiliations: the complete address and institution of each author. No line space should appear between author(s) and affiliation(s). When there is more than one affiliation, use superscripted numbers after each author. Each affiliation must include the city and the country. After each different affiliation use a semicolon, not a full stop. If the affiliations are in the same country, the country should be mentioned only once at the end.
• Email: The email address of the presenting (or corresponding) author as follows: Email: j.smith@institute.com. No hyperlink is embedded with the email address. No fax or telephone numbers are permitted.
• Key words: provide 2 - 6 key words for indexing.
• Background and Hypothesis: Provide a brief summary of the background and the hypothesis being tested.
• Methods: Describe the essential elements of the study design/experiments.
• Results: What did you learn/invent/create?
• Conclusion: Describe the implications of your findings.
• Additional information (optional): information such as financial support, acknowledgements, references and comments, can be included in this section. Please note the one-page limit of the whole abstract applies here

3. Communication type

Authors should indicate their preference for presentation as a poster only, oral presentation only or no preference. The final decision on the presentation type and scheduling of the abstract will be made by the Scientific Committee.

Like NZBCS-2017, we will continue the Emerging Scientist Oral and Poster Presentation Awards at NZBCS-2022. Authors should indicate whether they want their abstract to be considered for such an award. There will be three awards (1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place) for both oral and poster presentations. Each award will receive a certificate that is signed by Prof Ian Campbell (the judge panel chair) and A/Prof Dong-Xu Liu, the Chair of the NZBCS-2022 Organising Committee. The first place awardees will also receive NZ$100.00 cash, while the other awards are honorary without any monetary values attached. However, all awardees will be eligible for a discounted registration for future events that are organised by the New Zealand Association of Breast Cancer Research (NZABC^®) Incorporated.

4. Abstracts submission

Completed abstracts should be submitted to Professor Ian Campbell, Chair of the Scientific Committee of NZBCS-2021 & NZBCS-2022 via email at ian.campbell@petermac.org (with the text "NZBCS-2021 Abstract" or "NZBCS-2022 Abstract" as the subject line and the actual abstract attached as a Word document).
